![]() ![]() The original figure upon which this repaint is based, was first released in the dreadful Walmart Black Series at the end of 2016/early 2017, for Rogue One. It definitely made it look weird next to a regular storm trooper, but if kept separate, you could convince yourself that they’re supposed to look like that as they head into battle - bringing sparkly terror upon their awestruck enemies. The stormtrooper ended up with a pearlescent finish that was kind of neat. Unless there’s a big stash of replenishments coming down the pipeline, these “terrible” figures may have set a record for fastest TVC wave to sell out. And apparently, people couldn’t get enough of them. But it’s better than putting up a big goose egg for Season 2. The gist is that they needed something quick, but different, to put on the shelves as Season 2 was about to premiere, and they had to account for the needs of their biggest brick and mortar retail partner in order to pull it off.
